Northside School District will again participate in the National School Lunch Program which provides free and reduced-price meals for students from households with qualifying incomes. Households interested must apply every school year for the meal program.

Effective July 2011, there is a new Federal Requirement to raise student paid pricing. In complying with this mandate, NISD will raise student paid pricing by the smallest increase allowed, $.05 cents per student lunch meal. This is a requirement of Federal Law; NISD did not want to increase pricing.

Schools and teachers grapple with massive impending cuts from the state
The Board of Trustees Tuesday night voted to save first-year probationary teachers' jobs but at the same time directed the superintendent to prepare a budget recommendation that will cut an additional 705 positions through attrition next school year. The Board is expected to vote on the recommendation at the April 26 Board meeting.
