The second annual Nerdvana Con, a free comic convention for teens, will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 10 at Stevens High School.

The event is geared towards secondary students and was created as a literary outlet for readers of anime, manga, graphic novels, and comic books.

Attendees will experience exhibits, gaming, and cosplay contests (costumes), which are traditional elements of comic con, but the all-day event also includes breakout sessions on graphic novels, comic books, manga, author panels, and maker spaces.

Among the presenters are New York Times best-selling young adult author Jonathan Maberry, professional illustrator Freddy Lopez, a makeup artist known for zombie effects, and You Tuber Mr.CreepyPasta.

Participants can also learn how to publish comics, write Japanese calligraphy, and learn how to code.

Guidelines for costumes and cosplay contest rules are available on the Nerdvana Con website.

Food concessions and merchandise will be available for purchase.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of Northside libraries.

For more information on the authors and schedule of events visit the Nerdvana Con website or check them out on Twitter and Instagram.
