January is designated School Board Recognition Month in Texas, and Northside ISD is joining other districts across the state to gratefully acknowledge the invaluable contributions that elected Board of Trustees make to their communities.
Superintendent Brian Woods said that even though the District is making a special effort in January to show appreciation to Board members, their work takes a year-round commitment.
"Great leadership always begins with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference,” he said. “These public servants are elected to serve by local citizens and receive no compensation for their tireless efforts."
"Board members are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing school districts. Their ultimate goal is always focused on the future success of every student enrolled in the district. Our district is enriched by the contributions of these local citizens who truly care about our kids,” Woods added. “We applaud their efforts to serve as advocates for our children and the voice of public education.
Serving on the Northside ISD Board are: President M’Lissa M. Chumbley, District 3; Vice President Carol Harle, Ph.D., District 6; Secretary Gerald B. Lopez, District 2; Joseph H. Medina, District 1; Robert (Bobby) Blount, Jr., District 4; Katie N. Reed, District 5; and Karen Freeman, District 7.
