Five Northside ISD PTAs have been named 2017-2019 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Beard, Murnin, Leon Springs, and Scarborough elementary schools and Neff Middle School are among 143 schools from across the country to receive this special designation and are the only schools in San Antonio to receive it.
The awards are given to PTAs for their achievements in building strong family-school partnerships as part of the National PTA’s ongoing efforts to increase family engagement in education.
“We are extremely proud and excited that these schools have been recognized this way,” said Dr. Brian Woods, superintendent. “We know that students succeed when there is a commitment by the parent, a mentor, and/or a role-model to be involved in the life of a child.”
This is the fourth year in a row that NISD PTAs have received this designation. Past recipients include Ellison, Leon Springs, Mireles, and Murnin elementary schools, and Folks, Hobby, and Pease middle schools.
