Seniors at Construction Careers Academy have taken on the biggest challenge of their high school careers - designing and building five tiny homes on custom trailers. Now that the transformation is complete, the public is invited to tour the tiny homes at a Community Showcase before they are sold.
As part of the magnet school’s fourth annual Tiny Homes Showcase, students have constructed tiny homes of approximately 160 to 224 square feet each.
The tiny homes will be auctioned off on Saturday, May 20 at 1 p.m. The school is also hosting a free Tiny Homes Showcase that same day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to tour the homes. Throughout the day event speakers include Mayor Ivy R. Taylor, Zach Griffin from the TV show Tiny House Nation, and other tiny home experts.
Update- the four tiny homes were sold for a combined total of over $168,000.
The event also includes a silent auction of student projects including play houses, dog houses, benches, and more.
The tiny homes are all fully functional with utilities, bathrooms, kitchens, and sleeping areas.
