Love and spelling were in the air at Carson Elementary School as the school celebrated the wedding of Q and U.
The annual event teaches first graders that Q and U are “married together” when spelling words.
Bridesmaids dressed as queens and groomsmen dressed as quarterbacks. Shushers also carried ‘Quiet’ signs down the aisle.
Teacher Jim Baker officiated the quick ceremony and pronounced the couple “QU” only after asking if there were any letters of the alphabet who objected to the union.
As in any marriage, there will be compromises but hopefully few quarrels. The bride will have to be understanding when other letters need U to spell words and the groom will have to support Q in spelling all words.
