For the third time in four years, a team from Brandeis High School won the high school division of the Regional Science Bowl. They will now head to Washington D.C. for the National Science Bowl competition.
More than 65 teams from middle schools and high schools across the San Antonio area competed in the Regional Science Bowl at Jay High School Feb. 17 and 18.
The top high school and the top middle school teams at the Regional level advanced to compete in Washington D.C. April 27 - May 1, all expenses paid.
High School Division Results:
1st – Brandeis HS
2nd – St. Mary’s Hall
The members of the Brandeis team are seniors Stephen Chen, Pranjal Singh, and David Feagins, and sophomores Matthew Su and Anand Papineni.
Their sponsor is teacher LeAnne Gisler.
A team from BASIS won the middle school division.
Northside schools participating this year are: Brandeis, Clark, Communications Arts, Health Careers, Jay Science and Engineering Academy, and O’Connor high schools and Folks, Hector Garcia, Jones, Ross, Rudder, Vale, and Zachry middle schools.
The Regional Science Bowl is hosted by NISD Middle and High School Science departments with title sponsor Booz Allen Hamilton. Other sponsors include Lackland AFB Cryptologic & Cyber Systems Division, and MITRE Corporation. It is the only competition sanctioned by a federal agency, the US Department of Energy.
