“Give Back” program helps schools fund community projects

April 13, 2016

Northwest Crossing ES and Warren HS are champions in the 2016 Silver and Black Give Back Team Up Challenge and each received $20,000 to continue their community service projects.

Students and teachers from both schools were surprised Thursday, April 7 by the Spurs Coyote, several of the Spurs Silver Dancers, and a crew from Spurs Sports and Entertainment.

Last fall, the schools were among 18 local schools named semifinalists in the Team Up Challenge. They received $2,500 each to kick-start a community service project.

Warren HS construction technology students were selected for their “Giving Back Through Carpentry” project. Northwest Crossing ES was selected for organizing “Caring Cardinal Packs” filled with weekend and holiday meals for less fortunate classmates.

The schools were among five champions.
