Drug Take-Back Day set for Sept. 26

September 13, 2015

Now is the perfect time to empty medicine cabinets, bedside tables, and kitchen drawers of unwanted, unused, and expired prescription drugs as the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) holds its annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Take-Back Day, the tenth annual, focuses on providing a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications. Previously, the DEA collected 390 tons of prescription medications from more than 6,000 locations nationwide.

Prescription drugs can be taken to any designated drop off site between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drop off sites in the NISD area include the parking lot of Farris Stadium and the Leon Valley Police Department. For a complete list of sites, visit the Drug Enforcement Agency website.
