Vale MS students practice surgical skills with robot

May 13, 2015

Vale MS students received hands-on experience with a robot that they helped name.

Doctors at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital-Westover Hills were in search of a name for a new daVinci surgical robot that they had acquired, and asked their local middle school, Vale MS, to assist them.

Forty-three students submitted names with the winning entry submitted by eighth grader Kevin Paulino.

Students and teachers recently visited newly-named S.A.R.A.H. (Surgery Assistant Robot and Helper) and received some hands-on experience as they assisted S.A.R.A.H. in moving Smarties candies into plastic cups.
