Veteran principal tapped to open newest elementary school

This week’s Video of the Week features Principal Debra Piñon who will serve as the first principal for the District’s 75th elementary school, Herbert G. Boldt ES, opening in August 2015.

Prior to moving to Boldt ES, Piñon served as the principal at Hatchett Elementary School.

Piñon began her teaching career at Olmos Elementary School in North East ISD in 1992 serving as a first, second and third grade teacher. She moved to Burke Elementary School in the Northside ISD in 2001 working as a third and fourth grade teacher before moving into campus administration. She moved to Hatchett Elementary in 2004 serving first as the school’s vice principal and then principal.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Texas in San Antonio.
