4 students finalists in Cavaliers Art Contest

Arianna Apolinar, a fifth grade student at Northwest Crossing Elementary School, was recognized as the second place overall winner in the 2015 Texas Cavaliers Children’s Art Contest. She was one of four NISD elementary student finalists.

Each finalist received $3,000 for their school’s art program and a one-week summer scholarship to the Southwest School of Art. As second place overall winner, Apolinar received $5,000 for her school’s art program and a summer art program scholarship.

The theme for this year’s contest was Believe, and over 1,300 entries were received from 65 schools. Ten finalists were recognized at a press conference at the Southwest School of Art and the second place overall winner and grand prize winners were announced.

With finalists and runners-up in this year’s contest, NISD students earned $23,000 for their schools’ art programs.
