Senior citizens can stay connected with the Northside Gold Card

October 30, 2014

If you are over 65 years old and live in Northside ISD or are a retired NISD employee, you may be eligible to receive the Northside Gold Card.

The Gold Card enables you to enjoy a variety of activities, programs, and events in the District for free or at a discounted rate.

“It is our way to show appreciation to those who have paid taxes all these years, and/or taught in our schools,” said Dr. Brian T. Woods, Superintendent. “By offering this Gold Card we are giving back to those who have shown such dedication and support to the students of Northside.”

With the card, you and your guest are entitled to free admission to Fine Arts performances at all schools and free general (non-reserved) admission to regular season athletic events at NISD facilities, as well as swim for free during open swim times at the George Block Aquatics Center, Northside Natatorium, and Northside Swim Center (check the Aquatics website for open swim times). In addition, Gold Card holders receive a 15 percent discount on Adult and Community Education courses.

Those eligible include:

  • Senior citizens, who live in NISD and have the over-65 homestead tax exemption;
  • NISD residents with disabilities;
  • Senior citizens (over 65) living in rental property in NISD;
  • Retired District employees.

To receive the card, you must present proof of age and residency in person to the Partnerships Office located at 6632 Bandera Road, Building A.

In order for the Northside Gold Card to be valid, the cardholder must print his/her name on the back of the card. Additional identification may be requested.
