Four Northside ISD’s PTAs recognized nationally as a School of Excellence

October 3, 2014

Four Northside ISD PTAs are named as 2014-16 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Leon Springs and Mireles elementary schools and Folks and Hobby middle schools are among 170 schools from across the country in receiving this special designation, and are the only schools in South Texas to receive it.

The awards are given to PTAs for their achievements in building strong family-school partnerships as part of the National PTA’s ongoing efforts to increase family engagement in education.

“We are extremely proud and excited that these school PTAs have been recognized this way,” said Dr. Brian Woods, superintendent. “We know that students succeed when there is a commitment by the parent, a mentor, a role-model to be involved in the life of a child.”

The four schools will be recognized at the Sept. 23 Board of Trustee meeting, and campus-based recognitions are also planned.
