The Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) has reelected Karen Freeman, a Trustee in Northside ISD, to a three-year term on the TASB Board of Directors.
Freeman has served on the TASB board since 2011 and on the Northside ISD Board of Trustees since 2005. She is the immediate past-president of the NISD Board and has held the positions of vice president and secretary.
"Northside ISD is thankful to Mrs. Freeman for her unselfish service to this community and students,” says NISD Superintendent Dr. Brian Woods. “She is an example of the outstanding leaders who serve on the NISD Board of Trustees."
Freeman graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from the University of Central Florida. She is married to Dr. Theodore (Ted) Freeman and currently works in his medical practice.
A longtime volunteer in Northside ISD, Freeman has held numerous elected positions in PTA and booster clubs. She is currently a member of the Bexar County School Board Coalition and serves as secretary for the Helotes Area Chamber of Commerce.
Freeman was awarded the designation of master trustee as a graduate of Leadership TASB in 2009.
TASB is a nonprofit association established in 1949 to serve local public school districts. School board members are the largest group of publicly elected officials in the state. The districts they represent serve approximately 5 million students.
