A record number of Northside ISD students headed back to the classroom as schools re-opened on Monday, Aug. 26. Projected enrollment for the 2013-2014 school year is 101, 619 students.
This year Northside ISD opened three new schools: Franklin Elementary School, McAndrew Elementary School and Folks Middle School. To view pictures from the first day at each of these schools, visit Northside’s Facebook page.
Northside ISD now has 73 elementary schools, 19 middle schools, 10 comprehensive high schools, five magnet high schools, and eight special schools for a total of 115 campuses.
Even though students are back to school, Northside ISD’s Back to School website is a great resource for the most frequently asked questions about registration, immunizations, calendars, school supply lists, bus routes, and more.
Download the 2013-2014 calendar here. The last day of school is June 5, 2014. There are 88 instructional days in the first semester and 89 in the second semester for a total of 177.
The elementary menu and the middle/high schools menu for the 2013-2014 school year are available on the Child Nutrition Department website. Prices are $1 for breakfast and $2 for lunch at the elementary level and $1.00 for breakfast and $2.25 for lunch at the secondary level. Parents can go online to pay for their child’s meals at www.mylunchmoney.com. Cash, checks and money orders are also accepted at school cafeterias.
Parents can also register for a Parent Connection account. It is a secure website that allows parents access to their children’s current and historical grades, attendance records, and standardized test results.
Parents are encouraged to sign up for a SchoolMessenger account (see “Contact Manager” section) to receive text message and email alerts from their child’s school.
