At last night's School Board meeting, NISD Trustees adopted a $1.1 billion dollar budget for the 2013-2014 school year with no increase in property tax rate and named two new schools that open in summer 2014-  Bonnie Ellison Elementary School and Dr. Joe J. Bernal Middle School.

Northside ISD will again participate in the National School Lunch Program which provides free and reduced-price meals for students from households with qualifying incomes. Households must apply every year for the meal program, and meal benefits from last school year will expire on Oct. 7 if there is not a current 2013-14 meal application on file at the Free and Reduced Office.

For the fifth consecutive year, Northside ISD can claim a Region 20 Teacher of the Year. The 2014 Region 20 Secondary Teacher of the Year is Christian DeBerry a Special Education teacher at Hobby Middle School.

Northside ISD is enforcing its “No Shots, No School” policy, which means students who are not up-to-date on immunizations will not be allowed to attend classes when the 2013-14 school year begins on Aug. 26.
