TRS executives and trustees will meet with active and retired members on from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16, in Austin to discuss an update on the condition of TRS-Care, the TRS retiree health care program that serves more than 200,000 retired Texas educators.
The meeting will be webcast live and archived for later viewing on the TRS website.
Additional topics to be discussed at the town hall meeting include:
- Recent TRS benefit changes enacted into law
- Investment performance of the TRS pension fund during the past year
- TRS' just-released 2011 actuarial valuation that reports an 83 percent funded ratio
- A TRS report commissioned by the Texas Legislature to study the impact of potential changes to the TRS pension plan, including retirement eligibility, final average salary, benefit multiplier, and the creation of a hybrid defined contribution/defined benefit retirement plan.
