The Board of Trustees Tuesday night voted to save first-year probationary teachers' jobs but at the same time directed the superintendent to prepare a budget recommendation that will cut an additional 705 positions through attrition next school year. The Board is expected to vote on the recommendation at the April 26 Board meeting.
In Northside ISD, the wheels on the bus go round and round over 8.2 million miles every year, getting 60,000 students to and from school every day.

More than 30 teams in both the middle and high school levels competed in the Regional Science Bowl competition held at Jay Science and Engineering Academy recently.
Thirty-five students from four NISD high schools competed in the State Academic Decathlon tournament this past weekend. Holmes, O'Connor, Stevens, and Warren high schools took tests in seven academic categories, wrote essays, gave speeches and interviews, and participated in a Super Quiz Relay.
