More than 450 student athletes who are succeeding on the playing field and in the classroom were named to District academic teams for cross country, football, tennis, and volleyball.
To be named to a District academic team, athletes must:
- Be a senior
- Have a cumulative grade point average of 90 or higher
- Be in good standing with the team
- Have good character
"These student athletes have demonstrated the importance of succeeding in the classroom academically as well as showing the poise, character, and self discipline that is developed in the spirit of competition in athletics,” Athletics Director Stan Laing said. “These qualities are things that will help these students continue to be successful in many other areas of their lives after they graduate from high school."
Credit also goes to parents, teachers and coaches who set high expectations for both the classroom and the playing field, Laing said.
