The Dr. John Folks Scholarship Program strives to make the Learning Tree Program accessible to as many students as possible.  The goals of the program are to provide a safe place for students to engage in productive activities during the after school hours, and to promote parental involvement in order to stress the importance of the parent role in their child's education. A limited number of tuition waivers are available.  In order to be considered for this scholarship, both criteria must be met:

*Qualify for Financial Hardship (Household income must be within the limits of the Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines).  Proof of income will need to be provided.

*Have a Child Care Need (parents who are working during after school hours, legal guardian grandparents, foster parents, or parents attending school).

  • Proof of work employment and copy of work schedule will be required.
  • Proof of enrollment in school and copy of Fall or Spring schedule will be required if applicable.
  • Legal documents to support Foster Placement or custodial grandparents (legal guardianship).

*If accepted into scholarship program parent/guardian must pay the standard registration fee per child ($30 per year) prior to program start date.

Requirements to maintain the scholarship:

*Student will maintain 90% attendance in school and Learning Tree

*Student will maintain 75 average or a "Satisfactory" grade every grading period

*Student will receive no more than two discipline referrals per school year

*Parent will participate in a least one parent involvement activity per month with campus and/or Learning Tree

Parents not meeting one or more requirement at any given time will be placed on probation for the remainder of the school year.   A second offense will result in a final written warning regarding possible loss of the scholarship funds.  A third offense will result in removal from the scholarship program.

*All applicants will be notified via email by 5 pm on the dates listed above.  If you do not receive an email, please check your junk mail or spam folder.   If you do not see an email, please contact our office on the next available business day.All applications will remain on file for the school year in which they are submitted and will continue to be reviewed by the committee in subsequent application periods. Committee decisions will be final and not subject to appeal.
