In honor of No Name Calling week, January 15-19, 2018 we have planned a few activities to help bring awareness to this fabulous event!
No Name Calling Week was inspired by a young adult novel, The Misfits, by James Howe. The book tells the story of 4 best friends who grow tired of the constant teasing in their middle school, and decide to run for student council on a "No Name-Calling" platform. Many schools throughout our country celebrate No Name Calling Week as it helps us create happy, safe places to learn! At HGMS, we want to spend this week thinking about ways we can be kind to one another and use words and actions that promote friendship, acceptance and peace.
Please help us celebrate No Name Calling Week by participating in the following activities.
Mon 1/15: MLK Holiday- No school
Tues 1/16: Wear pink as a symbol of kindness to spread throughout our campus and community.
Weds 1/17: Shake it up! Let's greet one another by giving each other a warm hand shake throughout the day.
Thurs 1/18: Students will decorate small hearts with kind words, compliments, or positive messages. Students will hand them out to a person of their choice (teacher, friend, etc).
Fri 1/19: Smile! Today show others that you care by giving them a huge smile and say hello!!
