Over a career that spanned almost 40 years, Kay Franklin touched the lives of thousands of children as a teacher and administrator. Her calm and diplomatic demeanor, her deep integrity, and her ability to troubleshoot just about any problem earned her respect of parents, teachers, and fellow administrators.
Franklin began teaching in Grapevine ISD in 1969, and joined Northside ISD in 1972 as a teacher at Esparza Elementary School. She also taught at Scobee Elementary School before being named vice principal at Elrod Elementary School. She returned to Scobee to serve as vice principal, and in 1996, she was named principal at Fernandez Elementary School. She moved to central office in 2000, when she became the Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Administration. In 2002, she was appointed Deputy Superintendent for Administration, a position she served in until she retired in 2008.
