Elizabeth Sanchez-Lopez, currently serves as Northside’s first Assistant Director of Fine Arts.
Elizabeth joined the Northside family in 1992 and began her educational career as a Spanish teacher, pep squad and cheer sponsor at Holmes HS. While at Holmes, she also developed an after-school folkloric dance troupe, Danza Unida. Elizabeth then became a full-time dance teacher, spirit coordinator and director of the award-winning Goldenbelles dance team. In 2005, Elizabeth helped open Stevens High School and served as the Falcons first dance teacher, fine arts coordinator and dance team director of the award-winning Sky Dancer dance team.
In January of 2007, Elizabeth was appointed Dance & Theatre Supervisor.
Elizabeth received her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University and holds a Master in Administration from Concordia University in San Antonio.
She has served on numerous boards and committees including State Board of Education Dance Teacher Certification Committee, SBOE Dance TEKS Review/Revision Committee, San Antonio Cultural Arts Board, San Antonio Dance Umbrella and the Texas Theatre Administrator Association. She also served as the Regional Representative for the Texas Dance Education Association and CEDFA’s Trainer of Trainers on the state committee for dissemination and training in the 2015 Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Fine Arts and was an Outside Item Writer for ETS Dance Exam. She currently serves as a committee member of TDEA’s Dance Educators’ Assessment of Learning.
Elizabeth has been an active member of such professional affiliations as Texas Dance Educational Association, Texas Educational Theatre Association, Texas Music Administrators Conference, and is a Cadre Member for the Center Educator Development in Fine Arts.
Elizabeth and her husband Gerald have three children, all products of Northside.
