Elrod opened its doors to the community in 1988. At that time George H. Bush was President of the U.S. and NISD became the fastest-growing school district in the state of Texas. The land that our school was built on was owned by the Heath Family who still live in our area. The Heath Family sold pieces of land in the early 1980's. One parcel was sold to an individual who later went bankrupt. It was then owned by a banking/investment group, who in turn, sold the property to NISD. Roads that surround Elrod Elementary were named by Mr. Heath after he built these roads. Heath Lane and Heath Circle Road were named after his family name. Roy Lane was named after Mr. Heath's son. Low Bid Lane was Mr. Heath's nickname and Clyde Dent Road was named after a friend of Mr. Heath.
