Rita Kay Driggers Elementary school opened it's doors to 600+ students on August 27, 2007. The school was designed by Garza/Bomberger and Associates and built by Browning Construction at a cost of $15,423,836. It was the district's 58th elementary school. Mary Helen Cover was the first principal of Driggers and Elizabeth Hernandez was the vice principal. Thanks to their leadership and the hard work of the teachers and students during the 2007-2008 school year, Driggers received Recognized status from the Texas Education Agency based on their TAKS scores. Driggers is a Title I and Bilingual campus. The Driggers Dedication Ceremony took place on October 13, 2007. This wonderful event was led by our fabulous music teacher, Wendy Morrissey who wrote the script, our school song, and other songs for the presentation. Donna Zoller, our very talented art teacher designed and created the sets for the show as well as directed, gathered, and displayed student art work around the school.
