SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel. It provides educational programs, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE) in the nation’s classrooms.
SkillsUSA is an applied method of learning where students practice skills and build self-confidence while helping their schools and communities. SkillsUSA provides experiences in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and character development. The program emphasizes high ethical standards, superior work skills, lifelong education and pride.
SkillsUSA activities foster the development of problem-solving ability and teamwork while building self-confidence and communication skills. These are qualities employers value and look for when hiring or promoting workers.
Academy students will have the opportunity to participate in the SkillsUSA Championship. The SkillsUSA Championships is the showcase activity of the SkillsUSA organization. This annual event begins with contests in classrooms. Winners advance through district or regional events, to state competition. Only the best make it to the national event. Students benefit no matter how they place in their contests. They test their skills, make job contacts, and have a chance for recognition. State and national winners receive gold, silver and bronze medallions, scholarships, tools and other awards. The national championships is considered the largest single-day of corporate volunteerism in America. For additional information visit the SkillsUSA website at www.skillsusa.org.
