Board of Trustees

Elected by the people to govern Northside Schools, Trustees are the guardians of the public trust and, through the policies they make, are ultimately responsible for our schools. This responsibility and the accessibility of Trustees to the voters make the Board one of the purest examples of democracy in our society.

Northside Trustees represent about 208,000 households located in 355 square miles in northwest Bexar County and parts of Medina and Bandera counties. Northside continues to be the “destination” district in San Antonio for many families seeking a quality school system for their children and for employees seeking a quality place to work.

Northside ISD is working to address children's nutritional needs by opening two campus cafeterias during Spring Break, March 12-16, to provide a no-cost, hot breakfast, and lunch to area students.

“This is Northside” gets out of the classroom and into science at one Northside elementary school, showcases how NISD students are helping others replace cherished memories and lost items during Hurricane Harvey, and steps into the rehearsal as a group of choir students prepare to perform with rock and roll legends.

Northside ISD offers several transfer options for those that meet eligibility criteria and applications are now open for the 2018-2019 school year. These options afford students, and parents, flexibility and choices for individualized learning opportunities.

Last night, Trustees discussed and took action on several items: held a public hearing on the District’s Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR); approved the use of high school allotment funds to subsidize AP exams for students; and appointed campus administrators including two new principals.

The 21st annual Los Leones Student Arts Festival, presented by Jefferson Bank, has something for everyone and promises to be the most exciting show yet. The entire show has been created to center around the 11 rural schools that served as the "roots" of Northside ISD.

University Health System is offering a convenient way for parents to stay up-to-date with their child’s immunizations, flu shots, and prepare for college vaccination requirements. They will dispatch a mobile clinic to 8 NISD campuses in March.

The 49th annual NISD Special Olympics Track and Field Meet is scheduled for Feb. 26 – March 2 at Gustafson Stadium. The theme for this year’s competition is the “Wizard of Oz” which is fitting to describe the tremendous skills, heart, and courage shown by each of the competitors.

An Open Letter to Northside ISD Staff, Students, and Parents from Superintendent Brian Woods: Like many of you, I watched with sadness and horror as another school shooting unfolded in our country. We all grieve for those involved in this tragedy.
