Board of Trustees

Elected by the people to govern Northside Schools, Trustees are the guardians of the public trust and, through the policies they make, are ultimately responsible for our schools. This responsibility and the accessibility of Trustees to the voters make the Board one of the purest examples of democracy in our society.

Northside Trustees represent about 208,000 households located in 355 square miles in northwest Bexar County and parts of Medina and Bandera counties. Northside continues to be the “destination” district in San Antonio for many families seeking a quality school system for their children and for employees seeking a quality place to work.

The start of the next school year will be here soon, so now’s the time to start planning on what you might need to be ready. In anticipation of the soon-to-be-released district A-F ratings from the state, Dr. Woods has written a letter to all Northside parents and patrons. It explains the new ratings as well as expresses concerns regarding this method of rating schools and the arguments used to support it.

Seven Northside ISD PTAs have been named 2018-2020 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Cole, Ellison, Hoffmann, Helotes, Los Reyes, and McAndrew elementary schools and Folks Middle School are among 278 schools from across the country to receive this special designation, and are seven of the 10 PTAs in the Bexar County area to receive this top honor.

Northside ISD is holding an Auxiliary Job Fair to fill more than 320 positions for bus drivers, food service workers, food service manager trainees, police officers, custodians, and maintenance workers.

University Health System is offering a convenient way for parents to avoid long lines and stay up-to-date with their child’s immunizations. They will dispatch a mobile clinic to 13 NISD campuses in August.

Last night, Trustees discussed and took action on several items:  appointed several campus administrators, including one new principal and approved the renewal of UnitedHealthcare as the District’s medical insurance provider for 2019.

The Northside Learning Tree After School Enrichment Program is seeking outgoing, energetic, and positive role models to fill approximately 100 part-time Youth Leader Instructor positions. Interested applicants should stop by the Learning Tree Job Fair on Monday, Aug. 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Northside Learning Center, 6632 Bandera Road, Building D.

Last night, Trustees discussed and took action on several items: approved a Growth & Improvement Budget and Compensation Plan for 2018-2019, which includes salary raises for all employees; approved the 2019-2020 school year calendar; signed a Code of Ethics, reaffirming their commitment to adhere to ethical and educational standards; and appointed several campus administrators, including three principals.
