Northside's ESL Program provides intensive instruction in English. The focus is to improve students' English language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. ESL teachers use techniques and approaches based on the current research in second language acquisition. Students whose first language is not English have specific needs as learners. Not only do they have to acquire a new language, they also have to adapt to North American culture and actively participate in American schools.
