“Who is patient?” asked Warren High School culinary arts teacher Dawn Hoyack. “They will be the ones most successful at making crepes.” The question was posed to a group of Club LT students from Jordan Middle School as they gathered in the Warren kitchen for a lesson on crepe-making.

And, a group of middle school students from Neff MS gathered in the Holmes HS kitchen for a lesson in making eggs.
“A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...” More accurately, it was a chilly Friday morning in December in a classroom on the Warren High School campus. The Force was strong as the school came together to throw a surprise 18th birthday celebration student Abel Soto will never forget. Lightsabers included.
NISD will hold its tenth annual Winter (Dance) Spectacular on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at Brennan High School. The event is part of the Fine Arts Holiday Music Series.
“This is Northside” features opening night festivities of the NISD Bowling League, the presentation of a $100,000 ImpactSA Grant to Construction Careers Academy, and the 36th annual “Officers in Blue” event at Glass ES.
Hundreds of fine arts students will be featured in a variety of holiday concerts and performances at elementary, middle, and high school campuses throughout Northside ISD.
University Health System is offering a convenient way for high school students to stay up-to-date with their immunizations, receive a flu shot, and prepare for college vaccination requirements. They will dispatch a mobile clinic to NISD high schools in the coming months.
“This is Northside” provides an in-depth introduction to the namesake of Kallison Elementary School. Nathan Kallison was a path-breaking innovative rancher and agriculturist on the 2,700-acre land he owned that is now part of Northside ISD and Government Canyon State Natural Area.

Northside ISD students and staff recognize the importance and significance of the selfless contributions of our veterans. There were Veterans Day celebrations and recognition ceremonies at schools throughout NISD where parents, grandparents, siblings, and employees who are veterans were saluted. These are highlights from the events at some Northside schools and departments.
John Marshall Harlan served as an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1877 to 1911. A Kentuckian by birth, Harlan had the nickname “The Great Dissenter” because he was the only justice to vote against the outcome of Plessy v Ferguson in 1896 and other cases that solidified the legal standing of segregation until the high court and Congress began to dissolve those laws in the 1950s and 1960s.
Northside ISD students continue to excel and receive numerous honors and awards. Below are students who have been named National Merit Semifinalists, Commended Scholars, and scholar finalists in the National Hispanic Recognition Program.
Alamodome management today confirmed graduation dates for Northside ISD high schools. NISD will hold 11 graduations in June 2018, ten of which are held at the Alamodome. The graduation for Health Careers High School will be held at the Northside Sports Gym.
This is Northside features an international parade at Colonies North Elementary School and a visit by a special children’s author at Lieck Elementary School.
Five Northside ISD PTAs have been named 2017-2019 National PTA Schools of Excellence. Beard, Murnin, Leon Springs, and Scarborough elementary schools and Neff Middle School are among 143 schools from across the country to receive this special designation and are the only schools in San Antonio to receive it.
