Zachry Middle School went to the Regional Middle School Science Bowl competition on Friday and Saturday, May 4th and 5th with three teams. The students had to compete in a double elimination science fact quiz bowl and had to design and build a car that runs on a hydrogen fuel cell.

Our teams competed against other Northside middle schools as well as schools from other districts. One of Zachry's teams came in first in the Science quiz bowl portion and fourth in the Hydrogen fuel cell car race. This gave the team first place overall in the contest. This team will be flown to Denver, CO for an all-expense paid trip to the National competition. There are only 4 teams from Texas invited to the national competition and 30 teams from the entire U.S., so this is a great honor for our students. The students' names are Scott, Zachary, Donald, and Steven (see pictures) The first picture was taken on Saturday, May 5th at the conclusion of the Science Bowl. The second picture was taken on the following Monday with their Science teacher, Mrs. Key.

A team from Jordan Middle School came in a very close second.
