Standardized Testing Information

SAT

Certain colleges that require the SAT I also require the SAT II for placement purposes. Applications for these tests are in the Career Center. However, it is recommended that you register online because you will receive a quicker response. If you are mailing the application, you are responsible for mailing it with your check to the testing company approximately 6 weeks before the test is to be given.

ACT

The ACT Assessment measures skills in English, math, reading, and science reasoning.  This test will  measure skills necessary for college courseware.  The test is scored from 1 - 36 in each subject area, averaged for a composite score.  A 36 is the highest possible composite score.  Applications for all of these tests are available in the Counseling Center. You are responsible for mailing the application with your check to the testing company approximately 6 weeks before the test is to be given.

THEA

The new name for the TASP Test is the THEA Test. This is the test required for entry into Texas public universities. Many two year colleges will accept scores for THEA, but will also accept scores for various alternate assessments. Please contact your college of interest for more information about the alternate assessments.

TAKS

All students who entered high school in 2001 and thereafter must meet TAKS requirements in order to graduate. The next Exit retake TAKS testing dates are as follows:

EOC

All students who entered high school in 2011-2012 and after must meet EOC requirements in order to graduate.* They will take the test that correlates with the class they are currently receiving instruction in.
