Valley Hi Reading Tic-Tac-Toe
For 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades:
The purpose of Reading Tic-Tac-Toe is to encourage independent reading in many genres while providing the student with some responsibility for its completion.
The program includes a set of Connection Activities for reading/writing and technology from which the student will choose when the book is completed. Connection Activities are designed to provide differentiation for student interests and learning abilities.
- Books should be on students reading level or slightly above to provide a challenge.
Object of the Game:
Students complete a row (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally) on their game card by reading a book from each genre on the row and completing a connection activity for this genre.
- ONE ROW must be completed each 9 weeks.
Thank you to Bonnie Fowler, creator of Reading Tic –Tac-Toe,
for allowing Valley Hi ES to use and adapt her original idea.
