Dear Thornton Texans,
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share with you my excitement in recently being appointed the new principal of William J. Thornton Elementary School. The 2014-2015 school year is quickly approaching and I cannot wait to meet your children and you. The opportunity to serve as the principal at Thornton Elementary is a dream come true and I can’t wait for the first day of school to arrive.

Approximately 80 families with 104 students attended Thornton's Family Math Night on October 8. Students and teachers enjoyed showing parents how to play some of the math games they play at school. Each student received a goody bag with a deck of cards and homework pass.

As NISD embarks on another school year, we are also looking at the future impact of thousands more children and the need for more schools and for upgrades to current ones. Part of the solution may be to have a School Bond Election in 2014. [more]
