Kelly Smith, Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services

Kelly joined the Northside ISD technology department in December 1995 as an Instructional Technology Coordinator, was named Executive Director of Technology Instruction and Integration Services in June 2003, and became Assistant Superintendent for Technology Services in June 2004.

Kelly received a B.S in Mathematics from Ball State University in Muncie, IN and an M.A. in Ed. Leadership from the University of TX at San Antonio. Her undergraduate and graduate majors were mathematics, computer science, marketing, and educational leadership. She possesses a Lifetime Texas Secondary Teacher Certification in Computer Information Systems and Mathematics, TX Mid-Management Administrator Certificate and a TX Superintendent Certificate. Kelly taught high school mathematics and computer science for 18 years, both in Indiana and Texas public schools and has served in educational leadership positions since 1989. Kelly's areas of expertise include teaching, curriculum writing, technology-related staff development, multimedia development, Web-based instructional design and publishing, and educational leadership. Kelly enjoys sharing her knowledge and experiences with other educators by presenting workshops and speaking at various state and national educational technology conferences.

Kelly was honored by the Center for Digital Government in 2007 with the Best in Texas award and, in 2005, was one of three finalists for the National Public School CIO of the Year Award and a Semi-finalist for the Technology & Learning Leader of the Year Award. She was a recipient of Northside ISD's Technology Director's Award in 2001 and the Northside ISD's Technology Founder Award in 1997, and was featured in the Texas Education Association's Promising Practices Video in 2000. Kelly is a member of the Texas Computer Education Association, Phi Delta Kappa International, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the Texas Distance Learning Association, and the National School Boards Association Technology Leadership Network.

Kelly has been married to her husband, Victor, since 1976. They are the proud parents of four children.
