How do I recover an absence?

How can I waive an absence?
You must turn in legal/medical documentation in order to be considered for a waiver.
First Semester : All Documentation must be in the attendance office by January 14, 2009 .
Second Semester: All documentation must be in the attendance office by May 22, 2009 .
Who can tell me how many hours “I” owe in Attendance Recovery?
1. Attendance Committee members can tally your hours
2. Time: 8: 10 – 8:40 am
4:15 – 4:30 pm (not during the school day)
3. Place: A 101A (Attendance Office) or A 101B (Mrs. Lininger's Office)
***These are ways to recover attendance for credit. However, keep in mind the instruction provided the day the student missed is never fully recovered. It is very important to be in class every day.
What the State of Texas has to say about attendance:
A Warning Notice may be issued to the student after the 3 rd absence.
If student continues to be absent after the Warning Notice has been issued, a complaint will be filed in a justice court.
Verification of Absences
1. When a student is unable to attend school, the parent will need to provide written documentation to the attendance office to report the cause of the absence.

Students must work on an academic tasks; This is not social time
- Each session will last approx. 60 minutes with a 10 minute break built in
- 1 session = 1 absence erased (hour for hour)
- Three hours will clear a whole day EXCUSED ABSENCE
- Students must designate the class and period they are making-up.
- Students must be on time.
- Attendance Recovery does not need to be prearranged.
- Students must bring their Student I.D.
- If you are asked to leave early due to a problem, the time will not count and you will be referred to the administrative office and parents will be notified.
- Students must be in dress code.
- Students must bring enough work for the time allotted. Bring homework, a novel or a project.
- No cell phones, food or drink, games, cards, or sleeping are allowed.
- Early dismissal without prior approval by administration will not be allowed.
All NISD rules as listed in the Student Handbook will be enforced.
