Teachers

The Staff Development Specialists within the Organizational & Staff Development department provide critical services to administrators, teachers, and campuses as professional educational consultants. Their mission includes improving student achievement by improving teacher performance.

Teacher support is accomplished in several ways by Staff Development Specialists: Consultations with campus administrators, subsequent evaluations, and the implementation of campus-based training; the development and the offering of specific, research-based seminars throughout the year; working one-on-one with teachers on a wide range of classroom issues; and administering a district-wide, induction program for new teachers.

The literature reveals that an effective classroom teacher has a direct impact on student achievement. The OSD Staff Development Specialists provide the type of professional support that is aimed at enhancing the skills of that classroom teacher that we know will have a direct impact on student achievement.
