Welcome!
The mission of Organizational and Staff Development (OSD) is to advance educational best practices that improve the education of every student through investigation, innovation, creation, production, instruction, demonstration and consultation in order to guide, support, encourage and inspire those who educate and supervise students.
OSD creates and/or supports comprehensive, continuous staff development opportunities for administrators, teachers, secretaries, and other District employees.
The Director of OSD and Specialists provide support to administrators and teachers. This support includes consultations, professional development, and new teacher support, including the New Teacher Academies, the Red Wagon Induction Program and the Transition to Teaching Program (T2T). They also offer a wide range of research based professional development opportunities including effective teaching practices, classroom management and mandatory topics such as PDAS. All training is geared towards enhancing student achievement. The department plans, organizes, and promotes the Administrator Institute, the Elementary and Secondary New Teacher Academies and the Secretaries Conference, all of which annually provide staff development opportunities for thousands of Northside employees. OSD collaborates with Secondary Administration to provide networking and staff development opportunities for secondary APs and VPs through the ATLAS program. OSD also facilitates the NCN forum and provides training for new School Advisory Team members.
OSD’s mission is supported by the Northside Professional Library and the Northside Resource Room, both of which are housed at the Northside Activity Center. The library offers books, videos, kits, journals and individualized research and reference support. The Resource Room offers teaching materials and the equipment necessary to produce educational products. The Resource Room also provides training for users as well as effective teaching and management ideas. The library and resource room are available to all Northside employees, substitutes, volunteers, and parents.
The OSD Online Professional Development Team creates and maintains customized online learning products for District departments which promote safer student and employee environments and sustain highly qualified staff. These products track employee learning and provide supervisors with employee performance information. The online learning products are available 24/7 for District employees.
OSD provides professional development opportunities for all Northside classified administrative support staff with the Annual Classified Administrative Support Staff Conference, the Clerical Administrative Support Staff website and specific job-related training about technology, stress management or dealing with difficult people.
OSD manages and administers the Electronic Registrar Online (ERO) System that registers tracks and reports District-wide professional development. OSD also processes, verifies, and corrects all training attendance records and supports and trains all ERO users.
OSD provides a variety of services that support District-wide endeavors. OSD manages the use of the Northside Activity Center (Monday-Saturday), which is used for professional development sessions, meetings, and gatherings. OSD also manages the programming and distribution of satellite programming and other online professional development resources such as the United Star Distance Learning Consortium (USDLC).
