Welcome back Huskies! I’m so glad to be starting the 2013-2014 school year at Scarborough Elementary. My name is Melissa Lopez-Brouse and I’m the Vice Principal here at Scarborough. I’m really looking forward to meeting all the returning Huskie parents and students. As well as welcoming all the new Huskie parents and students coming to Scarborough. This is my seventh year as a Vice Principal but my sixteenth year in education. I came from Boone Elementary where I was the Vice Principal for 3 years. I was previously a reading specialist at Braun Station and Mary Michael Elementary. Before that I taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 3 years at J.B Passmore Elementary.

I’m a NISD graduate of Taft High School and am proud to be working in this district. I have a bachelor in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from OLLU. I have a Masters in Reading from UTSA and a certification in administration from Texas A&M University in Kingsville. As you can see I am an avid learner myself. I hope to pass on that love to all the students here at Scarborough.

On a personal note I'm married to a wonderful man named Jesse who is a math teacher in Southwest ISD. We have two wonderful children our daughter Amelia and our son Benjamin. We've been busy taking care of them, teaching them and watching them grow. In any remaining free time I enjoy reading, baking, making cards and playing with our dog Honey Clover.

The year is off to an Amazing start! Feel free to e-mail me or call with any questions and concerns.
