Redistricting Timeline

Feb - March 2012	Board meets with attorney and demographer to review and discuss draft redistricting plan(s).
April 2012	Board recommends a redistricting plan and sets a schedule for Public Hearings on plan.
June 2012	Attorney and staff hold Public Hearings in single member districts and provide a report on public input to the Board.
June 2012	Board will consider making changes to the recommended plan, including adjustments to connect for the new county election precinct boundaries.
June 2012	Board adopts resolution approving a redistricting plan.
August 2012	Attorney sends preclearance submission to the U.S. Dept. of Justice (DOJ).
October 2012	Target date for preclearance from DOJ.
Feb - March 2013	Board orders trustee election under new redistricting plan.
May 2013	First election under redistricting plan.
