OHS Musicians Garner All State Honors

Three O'Connor High School musicians have earned chairs in their respective All State performance groups as named by the Texas Music Educators Association.  Taylor Gonzales, senior clarinet player, was named to the Texas All State Band while Ricky DeHoyos, junior, was named to the Texas All State Choir, and Mario Zadra, sophomore violinist, was named to the Texas All State Orchestra.  Students from all over the state competed within their regions and were first named All Region selections before the top ranked musicians advanced to the All Area auditions held at the University of Texas at Austin.  The All State musicians are named from this group, and this distinction is truly one of the most challenging and greatest individual accomplishments a high school musician can earn.  Gonzales, DeHoyos, and Zadra will be invited to attend the annual TMEA state convention held in February and will participate in performance clinics and a concert.
