Students and staff have been bringing in pennies to fill jugs in their classrooms.  The jugs are being weighed each day.  March 1st, the top ten classes will be announced and those classes will decorate a wagon for the school parade on Thursday, March 7th.  Check back to find out which classes win and how much money NWC collects!

Every Loser is a Winner

When the NISD HealthPOWER Weight Loss Challenge kicked off Sept. 1, 610 participants were at the starting line. Now three months later, there are a lot less of them (both in number and girth). Sixty-one people (or 10 percent) completed the challenge, losing a total of 884.4 pounds.
Never Too Young to Make a Difference

Kindergarten students at Northwest Crossing ES helped the needy and learning what it means to give to others by participating in a food drive. Initially, the students were asked to fulfill a goal of 100 cans by the 100th day of school. Kindergartners in Rebecca Salinas, Julie Goertz, Danette Sandoval, and Shannon Acap’s classrooms collected more than 150 canned foods and other non-perishable items for the San Antonio Food Bank.
 
The students learned that you are never too young to make a difference.
