Jay HS musician receives grand prize in clarinet competition

Ryder Naymik, principal clarinetist and the head drum major of the Jay HS Marching Band, was chosen as the grand prize winner in the third annual Northeast Texas Clarinet Day solo competition held March 7. Naymik played the Concertino for Clarinet - Opus 26 by Carl Maria von Weber before a panel of professional clarinetists at Texas A&M University-Commerce.
In addition, Naymik was chosen as the first place winner in the winds division of the San Antonio Symphony's "Future Stars" Concerto Competition held earlier this year.
