Annual Sales Tax Holiday August 8-10

August 4, 2014

For families in the midst of back to school shopping- a reminder that the Annual Sales Tax Holiday is scheduled for August 8 through August 10.

As in previous years, most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks priced under $100 are exempt from sales and use taxes, which could save shoppers about $8 on every $100 they spend.

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs estimates that Texans will save an estimated $82.7 million in state and local sales taxes during the Sales Tax Holiday.

The lists of apparel and school supplies that may be purchased tax free can be found on the Comptroller’s website at www.TexasTaxHoliday.org.

School supply lists for each Northside elementary school are available at www.nisd.net/schools/supply-lists.
