Mary Lagleder, a history teacher at Warren HS, won the Rising Star award at the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards dinner in Houston recently. She was recognized for her creative and innovative approaches to teaching, and received $5,000 for herself and $5,000 for her campus. The rising star secondary teacher category is for teachers with less than 10 years of classroom experience.

In addition, Lagleder was selected to receive a 2014 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award. This prestigious award, presented annually by Humanities Texas, recognizes teaching excellence in humanities fields such as language arts and social studies in Texas.
