Message about student safety from the superintendent to all NISD staff and parents

April 22, 2014

An Open Letter to Northside ISD Staff and Parents From Superintendent Brian Woods:

As you know, we are cooperating in an investigation with local and federal law enforcement of an anonymous threat to a San Antonio area elementary school. As soon as we received the threat we engaged internal and external law enforcement for advice and assistance. While we are told that the credibility of the threat is low, we have and will continue to take it seriously.

Please know that all available resources will be dedicated to ensure the safety of our students and staff.  To that end we may have to make some changes to scheduled events on Thursday of this week so that schools can better manage visitor control. We will communicate any changes as soon as those decisions are made.

Like you, I have loved ones in our schools and, like you, I want to ensure safety as a top priority. We will continue to communicate any news on this issue.

Thank you for your support of your school and of Northside ISD.
