Drug Take-Back Day set for April 26

April 17, 2014

Now is the perfect time to empty medicine cabinets, bedside tables, and kitchen drawers of unwanted, unused, and expired prescription drugs as the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) holds its annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 26.

This will be the eighth time for the Take-Back Day, which focuses on providing a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications. This past fall, the DEA collected 324 tons of prescription medications from more than 5,683 locations nationwide.

Prescription drugs can be taken to any designated drop off site between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Drop off sites in the NISD area include Farris Stadium and the Leon Valley Police Department. For a complete list of sites, visit the Drug Enforcement Agency website.
