UTSA brings practice back to Farris Stadium

March 21, 2014

The UTSA football team is heading back to Dub Farris Stadium. Head football coach Larry Coker and the entire Roadrunners team will be at Farris Stadium for a two hour practice beginning at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 29.  Practice is free and open to the public and UTSA players will sign autographs and meet fans afterwards.

“We’re very pleased that Northside ISD again has agreed to host a UTSA practice at Farris Stadium,” said UTSA head football coach Larry Coker. “For more than three years, it was the home to UTSA football practices. We owe a great debt of gratitude to Northside for its hospitality as we began our program.”

For the past two years, UTSA has taken Saturday spring practices on the road to area high school stadiums. Last year the Roadrunners also played their spring game at Farris Stadium.

The UTSA roster this spring includes seven players from NISD schools.  Freshman wide receiver Aron Taylor, junior safety Mauricio Sanchez, sophomore linebacker Dalton Miller, and junior defensive tackle Kennedy Ubabuike graduated from Warren High School.  Senior defensive end Cody Rogers is a Brandeis High School graduate.  Junior wide receiver Kenny Bias graduated from Stevens High School and senior deep snapper Jesse Medrano is a Jay High School graduate.

“The Northside community surrounds our main campus and loves football,” Coker said. “We hope that Northside patrons will come out to meet our players, and will enjoy UTSA football again on their home turf.”

After the two-hour practice, fans will have an opportunity to purchase UTSA merchandise and receive season ticket information.
