Public invited to open house on Loop 1604 expansion project

March 6, 2014

The Texas Department of Transportation is holding an open house to present proposed improvements to Loop 1604 between Potranco Road (FM 1957) and FM 471 (Culebra Road). The public is invited to attend and view project maps, visit with team members, ask questions, and share comments.

The open house is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 18 at Briscoe Middle School, 4265 Lone Star Parkway.

The two-year project impacts many Northside schools located along the Loop 1604 corridor.

Improvements along Loop 1604 are needed due to high traffic counts and congestion. The proposed project would expand Loop 1604 to a 4-lane expressway (non-toll lanes). Improvements would include the construction of the southbound Loop 1604 main lanes and frontage road, entrance and exit ramps, and three grade separations at Potranco Road, West Military Drive, and Wiseman Boulevard.
